The Chicago Eco House's Stewart Street Farm project is quickly taking off this spring in partnership with the Gardeneers, Alderman Cochran's Office, TEAM Englewood High School, Urban Prep Academy, and After School Matters. Thirty two students from the two Englewood-based high schools receive $325 each for their participation in the spring program that started last week. So far, students have built crop beds, shoveled compost, planted a variety of crops, posted signs, and completed many other tasks. Students are not only learning invaluable farming/gardening skills, but are also learning important professional soft skills such as teamwork, conflict resolution, community building, etc.
